5.0 = Gutenberg

Well, it’s here and if you have not been paying attention you probably don’t have to… a big tech thing just happened on your website.

WordPress 5.0, which is a major update.

Don’t worry, you probably won’t feel (notice) a thing. Especially if you do not update your own website, no worries at all.

For those of you that do, my kindred souls, you need to make a decision. Do you want to use Gutenberg or not?

Some of you cannot use it on some pages = pages that contain paypal buttons or any other tricky thing we may have done to make some web magic happen. Those pages need to say the same! So if you mistakenly open one, just don’t save it. Just get out of there. When it says changes will be lost, say fine. If you do happen to mess it up, it will still be in there in the history (WordPress saves changes…) and we can restore it. Let me know.

Okay, sorry about the creepy tech post. I wanted to test out the new Gutenberg editor. If you can read this, it works.

Township Hall

A great start for a Township website.

This theme was created with townships in mind, (I have done a couple of township websites) and to help township residents find the information that’s important to them quickly and efficiently.

But it’s not just for townships. This would make a nice theme for any business or organization.

Get the Special Meeting Minutes plugin (extra $) that allows townships to easily upload meeting minutes and agendas in PDF form. This plugin works great for any organization that has meeting minutes that they want to display on their website. Easy to upload your meeting minutes PDFs.

Township Hall

This theme can be used for any type of website with its clean style.

Google Favors Mobile-Friendly Websites

I created i-C web to help small businesses and individuals upgrade to “responsive” websites: Websites that are mobile-friendly and display well on all devices.

This is getting more and more critical, especially for business. iPads, tablets, and mobile phones are gaining on traditional computers for web browsing and these devices are becoming the norm, not the exception. So much so that search engine giant Google has decided to rank mobile-friendly websites higher in its search results.

Take Advantage of “Mobilegeddon”

LOS ANGELES (6:46 p.m. EDT April 21, 2015) — If your website traffic plummets suddenly Tuesday, you can blame it on “Mobilegeddon.”

Google is doing this because it wants consumers to “find content that’s not only relevant and timely, but also easy to read and interact with on smaller mobile screens,”USA Today
